由来と応用

文字通り、らくだが針の穴を通ることは不可能である。金持ちの男がイエスに、永遠の命を受け継ぐには、何をすればよいかと尋ねた。イエスは彼を見つめ、慈しんで言われた。、「わたしに従うために、持っているもの全てを売り払いなさい。」と言われた。その人は悲しみながら立ち去った。イエスは弟子たちに言われた。「財産のある者が神の国に入るのは、らくだが針の穴を通るのと同じくらい難しい。」

しかし、これは単に、財産のある者でさえ神の国に入れない、という意味であろうか?お金そのものは問題ではない。金持ちの男に問題を投げかけているのは、神ではなく、お金に対する愛(執着)なのである。
