起源と適用:“ヨブ記の中に出てくる「ベヘモット」はカバ、もしくは像だと信じられている。神はヨブの身に起こる苦難の答えとしてベヘモットを比喩的な対象物として使われた。もし人が神が創った巨大な獣を支配する事ができないで、人が神に対抗する事ができようか?

例:多くの人はもしアメリカ金融市場を惨害させたアルマゲドン(金融危機の波紋)が香港にも広がり、ベヘモット「香港上海銀行」を屈服させたらどうして良いのか分からない様だ。(2009年3月11日、香港スタンダード)
