オリーブは、現代では「平和」を意味します。なぜだか知っていますか?ノアの時代に、洪水は40日、昼夜の間、地を襲い続け、ノアと箱舟の中にいた者を除いた全ての生物を流し去りました。水はそこに150日滞在した。ノアは、最初、水位をテストするために、からすを送った。からすは、止まって休むところがなかったので、あちこち飛び続けました。そこでノアは鳩を放ちました。、止まる場所を見つけることができなかった鳩は戻ってきました。7日後再びノアが鳩を放ったところ、なんと今度は、オリーブの葉をくわえて戻ったのです!オリーブはそれ以来、今日の平和と和解の象徴になったのです。洪水の後に神が人類と和解された印なのです。。スウェーデンのノーベル賞美術館では、オリーブの枝のシンボルは、ノーベル平和賞に用いられています。
