意味

すきに手を置いてから振り返ると、迷いが出て、もしこういう決断をしていなかったら、どうなっていただろうと決断した自分自身を疑うことになります。。この聖書の詩から派生したもう一つのことわざは、「すきに手を置く」です。それはハードワークに取り組むという意味です。

起源と適用

人々が畑を耕すときにはまっすぐ前に視線を維持し、振り返らないようにする必要があります。さもなければ、畝がまがってしまうでしょう。イエスはこの比喩を使って,キリストに従うことをためらう人々を揶揄しています。召命にすぐに応えないえない人は、神に仕えるのにふさわしくないのです。
