“…여호와께서는 모든 마음을 감찰하사 모든 의도를 아시나니 네가 만일 그를 찾으면 만날 것이요 만일 네가 그를 버리면 그가 너를 영원히 버리시리라” (역대상 28:9)

누군가의 마음이나 영혼을 감찰한다는 것은 그 사람의 내면의 욕망을 찾아낸다는 것입니다.

기원과 적용

하나님께서 다윗에게 그의 아들인 솔로몬 왕을 하나님의 영광을 위한 신전을 짓도록 택하셨다고 하시며 쓰신 표현입니다. 다윗은 주님의 말씀에 순종하여 아들 솔로몬에게 신전을 위한 계획을 양보합니다. 마음이나 영혼을 감찰한다는 것은 내면의 사적인 욕망을 찾아낸다는 의미입니다. “자기 성찰”이란 표현도 이 이디엄에서 유래 되었다고 할 수 있습니다.

예시
