과업을 위해 네 자신을 준비시켜라. 태세를 갖추다.

기원과 적용

각오를 단단히 한다는 의미는 태세를 갖춘다는 뜻입니다. 이것은 이스라엘 사람들과 특별히 로마시대 군인들이 흔히 하는 행동입니다. 출애굽기에 처음 명시된 이 말은, 유월절 기간에 하나님께서 여러가지 역경으로 이스라엘 사람들을 힘들게 했던 이집트인들을 심판하시기 위해 이집트에 모든 처음 난 아이와 동물을 칠 거라고 하셨습니다. 그래서 하나님은 이스라엘 사람들에게 벨트 안으로 옷을 단정하게 넣고 태세를 갖추기 위해 빨리 먹으라고 지시하셨습니다. 후에 같은 관용구가 비유적인 의미로써 에베소서 6장 14절에 나타납니다. 바울은 그 제자들에게 모든 사탄의 계괘에 대항하기 위해 태세를 갖추며 각오를 단단히 할 것을 요구합니다.
