“거친 파도 위에 놓인 다리처럼”, 아마도 이 노래를 통해 ‘거친 파도’라는 표현을 들어 보셨으리라 생각합니다. 물로 인해 생기는 문제는 새로운 개념이 아니지요. 성경에서 물은 끊임없이 계속되는 변덕으로 비유되고 홍수와 같은 자연 재해로 자주 등장했습니다. 시편 46편을 보자면 “하나님은 우리의 피난처시요 힘이시니 환난 중에 만날 큰 도움이시라… 바닷물이 솟아나고 뛰놀든지 그것이 넘침으로 산이 흔들릴지라도 우리는 두려워하지 아니하리로다”라는 구절을 찾을 수 있습니다.
