Bible Verse
Genesis 22:23
Meaning
It stemmed from the Hebrew name רִבְקָה (Rivqah), meaning “to tie”. In the Old Testament, Rebecca was the grandniece of Abraham, wife of Isaac and mother of Esau and Jacob. Favouring Jacob over her first son Esau, Rebecca promoted Jacob to deceive Isaac in order to receive blessing. She was also the sister of Laban whose daughters Leah and Rachel later became Jacob’s wives.
