وهذا مأخوذ من مزمور للشكر. يقدم الكاتب حمده للرب الذي يشفي ويعطي السلام لأولئك الذين جرحوا من خطاياهم. جبر الجروح يعني محاولة وضع التجارب السيئة وراءنا. وأحد أفضل استخدام لهذه العبارة في هذا السياق هو “ربط جروح الأمة”، من قبل الرئيس الأمريكي أبراهام لينكولن، الذي قال في خطابه الافتتاحي الثاني: “مع الخبيث لا شيء، مع الصدقة للجميع، مع الحزم في الحق كما يعطي الله لنا أن نرى الحق، دعونا نسعى جاهدين لإنهاء العمل الذي نحن فيه، لربط جروح الأمة، لرعاية له الذي كان قد حمل المعركة ولارملته ويتيمه، إلى القيام بكل ما يمكن ان يحقق العادل والسلام الدائم بيننا وبين جميع الدول
