Bible Verse
Genesis 30:21
Meaning
The name stands for “judged” in Hebrew. In the Old Testament, Dinah was the daughter of Jacob and his first wife Leah. She was defiled by Shechem the son of Hamor when she was visiting the women of the land. Shechem wanted to marry her and was willing to pay Jacob and his sons any bride-price they demanded. Simeon and Levi, two of Jacob’s sons, tricked the men of Shechem, killed every male and plundered the city. Jacob was devastated to know their act and condemned them for vile consequences were to come.
