Bible Verse
1 Kings 17:1
Meaning
It originated from the Hebrew name אֱלִיָּהוּ (‘Eliyyahu) meaning “my God is the Lord”. In the Books of Kings of the Old Testament, Elijah was a Hebrew prophet during the 9th century B.C. who could raise the dead and bring fire down from the sky. He was the only one in the bible that was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind of a chariot of fire and horses of fire. In the Book of Mark of the New Testament, Elijah, together with Moses, appeared and talked to Jesus during the Christ’s transfiguration in front of Peter, James and John.
