Meaning
It is of Hebrew origin, meaning “God has given”. In the Old Testament, the name belonged to a prophet and a son of King David. Nathan was the prophet who rebuked King David for committing adultery with Bathsheba when she was married to Uriah. He was mentioned in the Books of Samuel, Kings and Chronicles. The name is also referred to as a short form of Jonathan or Nathaniel.
