Bible Verse
Matthew 4:18
Meaning
It came from the Greek word Πετρος (Petros) which stands for “stone”. In the New Testament, Peter was originally called Simon who was a Galilean fisherman. After Jesus had chosen him to be one of his twelve apostles, He changed the name to “Peter”. Peter denied Jesus three times after Jesus was caught by the Jews, but he later repented and devoted his life to preach the gospel. He was said to be crucified head down under Nero’s rule. His story is mainly told in the four gospels and the Book of Acts.
