起源と適用

モーセは神によって選ばれた予言者で、捕われていたイスラエル人をエジプトから脱出させるためののリーダーでした。イスラエル人がエジプトを離れてから2ヶ月後、彼らはモーセとアロンに食料のない荒野に連れて来られた事を講義したのです。神はイスラエル人を思いやり、雨のようにパンを天国から降らせました。イスラエル人は地がコリアンダーの種の様なものがあったのを見て、“これはなんだろう?”と問いました。人々はこれをヘブル語で「これはなんだろう」を意味する「マナ」と呼びました。

荒野で過ごす日々のイスラエル人にとって、マナは日常食べる食物になりました。現在においては、「マナ」は思いもよらない、必要とする、問題を解決する恵みものとして見られています。
