意味: ヘブル語で、「好意」、「恵み」、「美」または「情熱」といった、いくつかの意味をもつ חַנָּה (Channah) という名前から来ています。旧約聖書のサムエル記に書かれているように、ハンナはエルカナの妻でしたが、子供がありませんでした。神様に子を授かるようにと祈って、もし子が与えられるなら一生を主にささげるように約束しました。神は彼女の祈りに答えられ、ハンナはその約束を守りました。彼女の子供は、成長して預言者サムエルになったのでした。
