사도 바울은 편지를 통해 그리스의 도시인 갈라디아 지역에 있는 성도들을 향하여 주 안에서 믿음으로 살아야만 하고, 그렇지 않고 이전처럼 지낸다면 마지막 날에 심판을 받으리라는 말을 전합니다. 이것은 곧, ‘네가 뿌린 데로 거두리라’는 말씀과 상통합니다. 선이 선을 낳고, 악은 악을 낳습니다. 중국말에 그와 비슷한 속담이 있습니다. “참외를 기르면 참외를 거둘 것이고, 콩을 심으면 콩을 거둘 것이다.” (콩 심은 데 콩 나고 팥 심은 데 팥 난다.) 당신이 과거에 했던 일은, 그것이 좋은 일이던 나쁜 일이던 결국은 되돌려 받기 마련입니다.
