此习语的意思是吃得饱足,但原本的意思是使人的灵魂满足。在英王钦定本里,此习语为“eat to their soul’s content”,但在后期出版的新国际译本里,则翻译成“eat to their heart’s content”。此习语出自旧约箴言,道出义人追求神的话语,灵命的满足,但不义的人却追求物质,而且得不到饱腹。
