起源と適用: 新改訳では「底知れぬ窪み」または「底知れない深い穴」は悪魔の住んでいる場所とされている。御使い、おそらくイエスキリストがやって来て、悪魔を底知れぬ穴に千年の間閉じ込めるだろう。この期間、教会は平和と繁栄の為の重要な時間を持つべきであった。
