意味：ギリシャ語の名前Φερενικη (Pherenikeフェルニケ),　の古代マケドニア風、ベレニスの一つの派生形です。意味は、「勝利をもたらす者」“φερω” (phero)　フェロが「もたらす」という意味で、“νικη” (nike)ニケが「勝利」という意味です。新約聖書でこの名を持っている人ベルニケは、王ヘロデ・アグリッパ二世の姉（ヘロデ一世の長女）です。

「ヴェロニカ」は、同じ名前のラテン語表記です。
