Elijah エリヤ

意味：これはへブル語の名前、אֱלִיָּהוּ (‘Eliyyahu)　意味は「わが神は主なり」、からきています。旧約聖書の列王記の中に、エリヤは紀元前９世紀のへブル人預言者であり、死者をよみがえらせ、天から炎を起こすことができたとあります。彼は聖書の中でただ一人、火の馬、火の戦車でつむじ風の中を天に取り去られていったという人です。

新約聖書のマルコによる福音書には、ペテロ、ヤコブ、ヨハネの目の前でイエスキリストの姿が変わったとき、モーセといっしょにエリヤが現れて、イエスと話していたとあります。
