“To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.” (2 Corinthians 12:7) “又恐怕我因所得的启示甚大,就过于自高,所以有一根刺加在我肉体上,就是撒旦的差役,要攻击我,免得我过于自高。” (哥林多后书2 12:7)

意思

在使徒保罗去往大马士革的路上,救世主耶稣向他显现透露了自己的身份,于是保罗就被改信基督教了。保罗是一个充满有使命感激情并且效忠的人,他却毕生自始至终承受着肉体的痛苦。他曾三次请求上帝除去他肉体里的痛苦(肉中刺),但却缺得不到应允被拒绝了。上帝告诉他,“我的恩典够你用的已经给了你够多的恩泽了,因为我我的能力是在人的软弱上显得完全权利是完美的弱点。”保罗喜欢夸自己的吹嘘并且很乐意自己的痛苦软弱,因为在他软弱和艰难的时候他可以看见上帝所赋予他的力量。因此他有一句名言,“因我什么时候软弱,什么时候就刚强了当我软弱的时候,我变得很刚强。”
