Picture description: Pearl oyster
Picture copyright: V. Gilbert and Arlisle F. Beers

bible verse

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.”

origin and application

In his famous sermon on Mount Beatitudes, Jesus said to the crowds on mountain top, “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.”
Another word for pig is swine. If you cast pearls before swine, you offer something valuable to people who don’t appreciate it.
