摩西獲上帝所揀選,帶領以色列人逃出埃及的先知。當以色列人還在回家途中時,埃及法老改變了主意,決定派遣軍隊追捕在紅海邊安營扎寨的以色列人。上帝獲悉此事后,命令摩西向著紅海舉起杖,將海水分開。以色列人穿過紅海,走在干地上,最終成功脫逃。當埃及軍隊到達紅海時,摩西再向著紅海舉起杖,這時洪水涌至,令全體埃及軍隊葬身于紅海,無一幸存。
